Chiesi Foundation is proud to present its 2023 Social Report, which outlines the organization’s activities and accomplishments throughout the past year.
Through this report, the Foundation aims to showcase its mission, strategies, and alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda.
2023 marked a year of both challenges and triumphs for the Chiesi Foundation. The organization solidified existing projects, initiated new ones, and remained steadfast in its commitment to ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare and improving the lives of thousands in the Global South.
A pivotal event in the fight against neonatal mortality in sub-Saharan Africa was the inaugural NEST Partners Meeting, held in Burundi last October. This gathering brought together collaborating hospitals to exchange experiences and chart the future. It also served as an opportunity to finalize the revision process of the NEST – Neonatal Essential Survival Technology model, adapting it to address new global challenges and the specific needs of the communities it serves.
Another significant milestone was the Chiesi Foundation’s participation in the International Maternal Newborn Health Conference, the first of its kind, held in South Africa in May 2023. The Foundation’s role as a partner and supporter of the initiative reaffirmed its dedication to this crucial area of maternal and child health.
In the area of respiratory health, the Foundation focused on consolidating the GASP – Global Access to Spirometry Project, solidifying its position as an effective and sustainable model for diagnosing and managing chronic respiratory diseases. New partnerships were established with strategic collaborators, including Johns Hopkins University, which is conducting a study in Bhaktapur, Nepal, to assess the respiratory health status of the population, particularly brick kiln workers. The findings of this research will be instrumental in designing targeted interventions to improve the quality of life in local communities.
Chiesi Foundation forged a partnership with Chiesi Spain and SEPAR, the Spanish Society of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery, to bolster the GASP project in Peru. This collaboration exemplifies a virtuous model of synergy between philanthropic organizations, the private sector, and scientific societies.
Chiesi Foundation extends its heartfelt appreciation to all its partners, supporters, collaborators, and Chiesi Group for their invaluable contributions in enabling the remarkable achievements outlined in this report.
