International cooperation

Chiesi Foundation Onlus is committed to support international cooperation initiatives by actively developing its own projects, in collaboration with institutions and other non-profit organizations, with the aim to transfer means and to share scientific knowledge to low-income and middle-income countries through long term projects, oriented to a progressive economic indipendence.


The Foundation pays particular attention to co-operation in countries with limited resources, in order to improve the health conditions and the access to care for neonates and patients affected by respiratory diseases.


Starting from 2014, Chiesi Foundation is designing and developing its own program focused on the field of neonatology:

NEST - Neonatal Essential Survival Technology - Project

The objective of the NEST Project is to improve the quality of neonatal care in countries with limited resources, by:

  • providing hospitals with medical equipment for neonatal care, adequate to the local contexts;
  • developing and spreading the protocols for the correct use of basic essential drugs for the care of neonates;
  • promoting education and training initiatives for the local healthcare providers.


The projects developed in Burkina Faso, Benin, Burundi, Azerbaijan and Mongolia are part of the NEST Project.
